Liturgy of the Eucharist

Christ instituted the sacrifice and paschal meal that make the sacrifice of the cross to be continuously present in the Church.
In this liturgy, the elements of Water, Bread and Wine are consecrated into the Body and Blood of Christ.
Water – Is a source of life
Bread – made from wheat that originated from the Jewish Passover feast
Wine – made from grapefruits also of the Jewish Passover feast

Seven Sacraments of the Church

Infant Baptism

a. Preparation of the Gift
The gifts which will become the Body and Blood of Christ are brought to the Alter/Table of the Lord.
Other gifts brought by the faithful are brought forward and put in a suitable place, not on the Eucharistic table.
The Gifts offered at mass

b. Prayer over the Gifts
The faithful should stand
After standing, we pray: Pray that our sacrifice may be acceptable to the Lord…
Eucharistic Prayer
Is the centre and summit of the entire celebration
The priest invites people to lift up their hearts
The meaning of this prayer is that the entire congregation joins Christ in acknowledging the great things God has done.

Communion Rites
It is right that the faithful who are properly disposed of receive the Lord’s body and blood as spiritual food as he commanded.
a. The Lord’s Prayer
In the Lord’s Prayer, daily food is prayed for, which for us Christians means pre-eminently the Eucharistic Bread, and the forgiveness of sin, so that what is holy may be given to those who are holy.
b. Rite of Peace.
The rite of peace follows, by which the Church asks for peace and unity for herself and for the whole human family, and the faithful offer some sign of their ecclesial communion and mutual love for each other before communicating by receiving the Sacrament. Nevertheless, it is suitable that each person offers the sign of peace… in a dignified manner.
c. The breaking of the Bread
I Corinthians 10:17
The Breaking is accompanied with the hymn; lamb of God.
d. Communion
The faithful receive the Eucharist consecrated at the Mass
e. Prayer after Communion
After communion, the Priest and Faithful may spend some time praying silently
If desired, a psalm or other canticle of praise or hymn may be sung by the entire congregation.
This is ended by prayer after communion, in which the Priest petitions the fruits of the mysteries just celebrated.
